What makes me tick
I'm fascinated by humans and the range of feeling we experience, so nothing feels more natural than peering at all that vibrant life through a lens. To me, photography is a kind of magic: in a single image we can freeze a moment in time for ever. My aim is to capture as much life, expression, truth and dynamism in that moment as I can, then gift it back to the people that made it.
Many years working in film and TV documentary production ignited my interest in telling human stories. I pick up on feelings that inform my work and create a strong connection between the final image and the viewer. Trust and intimacy are at the heart of this process.
My photography is experimental, empathetic and sensory; I always want to provoke a feeling in my pictures. I play with the concept of time and memory, using blurring techniques that leave parts of the picture to the imagination and create an evocative softness.
I escaped the city for the south coast a while back and when I'm not working I'm mostly a windswept, dog-walking, sea-swimmer.
If you'd like to get to know me a bit better, I'll soon be launching my Now page, where I share what's happening in my world at the moment plus anything good that's caught my eye. Get in touch if you'd like to chat.
